Anastasia Beverly Hills – Modern Renaissance Palette

IMG_7670

I kind really have not been excited with a lot of beauty products that have been released as of late. I would walk in to Sephora and grab a liquid lipstick, and I would just end up leaving it, “thinking do I really need another one?”. There has been no excitement until, I started seeing the new Modern Renaissance Palette from Anastasia Beverly Hills all over Instagram and on Youtube. I did how ever wait on getting this palette, because I wanted to hear reviews on it.I did and i bit the bullet and purchased this palette.

It comes packaged with a pinky velvety exterior (same as the original Urban Decay Naked palette), not the standard cardboard like all her other palettes. I do see this palette getting dirty very quickly. That doesn’t bother me though. This palette contains 14 shades of neutral and berry tones. It has 3 metallic shades and 11 matte shades. There are 3 shades that you can buy individually – Warm Taupe, Buon Fresco and Burnt Orange. and the rest are unique to this palette. I think it’s a such a versatile palette. It also comes with a brush which is ok, it is not the greatest of brushes.

This palette pays homage to the Modern Renaissance period in the form of the names. So that is pretty neat I think:)

Tempera – Velvety beige with an ultra-matte finish
Golden Ochre – Earthy yellow with an ultra-matte finish
Vermeer – Iridescent shell with a metallic finish
Buon Fresco – Antique lavender with an ultra-matte finish
Antique Bronze – Metallic sable with a satin finish
Love Letter- Raspberry with an ultra-matte finish
Cyprus Umber- Dark coffee with an ultra-matte finish
Raw Sienna- neutral amber with an ultra-matte finish
Burnt Orange- deep orange with an ultra-matte finish
Venetian Red- Crimson with an ultra-matte finish
Primavera- shimmery gold dust with a metallic finish
Red Ochre- Sienna with an ultra-matte finish
Warm Taupe- Earthy gray with an ultra-matte finish
Realgar- Brick with an ultra-matte finish

The formula has improved in this palette, it is more buttery, smooth and really pigmented. So you can experience a bit of fall out, that does not bother me. I own the Tamanna palette and you can tell the quality is just better over all.

This palette retails for $42.00 it is her most expensive palette to date. It is also the only palette to that has been made permanent. I think that says a lot about the quality of this palette.

IMG_7676

I swatched the shades on my bare arm using my finger with no primer . Keep in mind swatches on ones are different to that on your eyes. This is just to give you an idea on the swatches look.

I say pick this palette, it is worth every penny.

If you own it let me know how you feel about it

Drugstore Product Disappointments May 2016

DSC06887

I think this might be the first time that I am doing something like this,  on my blog and trust me I never want to talk about products I don’t like. But, I thought it would be fun to see what products I have been disappointed by lately.

♥ Mabelline Vivid Matte Liquid “Rebel Red” “Nude Flush”*: We all know that liquid lipsticks are all the rage right now. The drugstores hardly have any liquid lipsticks. So when I saw Maybelline had come out with some I was pretty excited about it. I however not purchase any because the bad reviews were claiming that they were not matte at all. I found that rather weird because the packaging does clearly say “matte” So, when I was selected by Influenster to review these I was pretty excited to review them for myself, and lets just say I was highly disappointed by these. As we all know Maybelline does have some of the best lipsticks out there. So, I thought they would for sure get these right. I love how the apply and feel on the lips and smell but, when a products packaging says “matte” you expect it too be matte. You can either expect a very drying matte or a comfortable matte. These are straight up a gloss to me. There is nothing matte about these Maybelline Vivid Matte Liquid lipsticks.

DSC06849

♥ Wet n Wild Geometetic Highlighting Powder “Desert Explorations”: We all know Wet n Wild are all the craze right now since we all on the hunt for their Megaglo Highlighting Powders. Which, I am yet to still find they are sold out everywhere😦 So when I say this Geometric Highlighting Powder in the Wet n Wild display I just grab it, thinking that it would be good. Yet again, I was highly disappointed. If you are thinking you are going to get a popping highlight you can forget it. The only way I can describe this, if you own the Hourglass Ambient Lighting Palette. This would be something similar and alot cheaper. So you will get a very, very subtle “glow”

IMG_7421

♥ Revlon Colorstay Gel Envy top coat and “berry treasure” : I have never worn gel nailpolish so when I got to try these I was super excited to have my nailpolish last longer than 2 days. Plus how awesome is it that you don’t have to use the lamp you can just paint and go. Unfortunately, this nailpolish did not even last a day on my nails. So, I found that odd because gel polish is supposed to withhold on your nails for atleast 2 weeks. Save your money and just go to the nail salon and get a real gel manicure.

DSC06882

I hope I didn’t sound to disappointed:)

Have you tried any of these products? What have been some of your disappointments?

* Mabelline Vivid Matte Liquid “Rebel Red” “Nude Flush” were sent to me for free for testing, but all opinions are your own.

Urban Decay Vice Lipsticks

DSC06802

I was recently given the opportunity to attend the release of the Urban Decay Vice Lipstick with Ruby Rose (who I missed at the event) launch in New York. Youtuber Missy Lynn randomly selected me on Twitter as she saw that I interact with her on her channel and her social medias. I honestly am still so thankful that I was able to go and meet Missy. Everyone I meet from the Urban Decay team were so nice and welcoming. Thank you:)

When I saw Missy’s vault I was in total amazement of the whole vault containing all those lipsticks. I don’t think at this time Urban Decay will be selling the vault to the public but, who knows what the future might hold.

Urban Decay is lauching its entire lipstick collection as Urban Decay Vice Lipsticks. which will replace their old Revolution lipstick line and then some. They’ll all look the same with the iconic shotgun shell and have a new creamy texture thanks to vitamins E and C, and aloe vera, jojoba, avocado, and
babassu oils.

The lip sticks have been reformulated and repackaged with 100 shades in 6 indulgent finishes:

Mega Matte

Comfort Matte

Cream

Metallized

Sheer

Sheer Shimmer

I was lucky enough to get 3 of the 6  finishes.

I have not been into lipsticks for a while now, thanks to liquid lipsticks. I, am however very excited about these lipsticks.

Conspiracy (metallized) : Has got to be one of my favourites since I don’t have anything like this in my collection. I can’t wait to create a look with it. It applies beautifully and it even wears really well on the lips.

DSC06757

Big Bang (metallized) : Out of the two metallized lipsticks that I have, this one was my least favourite one as it was metallized but very sheer. You would definitely have to build it up. I also think it would be a great as a lip topper.

DSC06766

Insanity (cream): Insanity, is definitely my favourite shade as well as finish. Its so creamy in like one go.

DSC06760

Disobedient (cream): Is such a pretty pink I did not even want to use it. The creams in this collection are my favourite:)

DSC06754

No-Tell Motel (cream) : I just love the name of the lipsticks. I have not been into red lipsticks in a while but, I see myself popping this red on, on nights with. Or just if I want to rock a winged liner and red lip.

DSC06769

Pandemonium (mega-matte) : To be honest, I thought I was not going to like this shade. One being purple they tend to be streaking but, I did not have an issue with that. Second, I thought that it being a mega-matte that it would drag as I was applying it but that was not an issue at all.

DSC06816

They are also launching 50 lip pencils Hands down the Urban Decay 24/7 Glide-On Lip Pencils are by FAR my favourite lipliners. They apply so soothly, they don’t drag on the lips and they wear well. Plus they have a great selection.

The Urban Decay Vice Lipsticks will be released June 6th 2016

They will retail for $17 at Sephora, Ulta, UrbanDecay.com and a few other retailers.

Are you excited about this release?

IMG_6623

Every season I like to change up my makeup looks a little to feature seasoned -appropriate looks. I am so happy to have teamed up with H-E-B to bring you this post. I have an easy step-by step Bright/Cheery Spring makeup look that you can re-create it at home. With some makeup products that I picked up from H-E-B. I will also be  including a little video of 4 different lip looks you can wear with this Bright/Cheery Spring makeup look.I am in H-E-B just about every week to do grocery shopping and always pop by the health and beauty section. H-E-B is your one stop shop for beauty products. You can find all of the seasons hottest products at H-E-B (online and in store)

To start, I went with the NYX Micro Brow Pencil in Taupe for the front of my brows and Brunette for the end of my brows. Brows are very important as they frame your face and just look more put together. If you are on a budget and can’t afford the Anastasia Beverly Hills Brow Wiz. I say these NYX Micro Brow Pencils are just are good. They come in array of shades to suit everyone’s brows.

I used the Wet n Wild 738 Comfort Zone palette for my eyes, I used the 2nd and 3rd shadows in the first row. I was going for a golden eye with a little touch of green on my lower eye lash to make the eyes pop a little,I used the 2nd shadow in the 2nd row. These Wet n Wild eyeshadows are some of the best. I always say don’t sleep on these puppies.

I then applied winged liner using the L’Oreal Black Velvet Liquid Eyeliner. I will say I grabbed the wrong L’Oreal Liquid Eyeliner. I, however was able to make it work for me. I applied my mascara, you can use any mascara of your choice. Next, I applied my Ardell Glamour lashes.

IMG_6524

For foundation I went for the L’oreal True Match Lumi Cushion (Perfect Beige) It was my first time trying a cushion foundation and I must say I am quite impressed on how much I like this foundation. I would suggest if you are oily you might not like this foundation as it is super dewy. I for one have really dry skin, so I do not mind the dewy look.

To highlight under my eyes I used the L’Oreal Magic Lumi Highlighter Pen in Medium. I applied it in a V-like shape and blend it out with my Beauty Blender, I finally set it with my powder.

After, I set my under eyes I move onto contouring my face and you can do that with whatever contour palette you have, if you are not in to contouring you can skip that step. I bronzed up my face with one of my bronzers.

For the very subtle glow on my cheeks I used the NYX Baked Blush+Illuminator +Bronzer in Chiffon. It really is an all in one product.

I finally applied Milani Matte Passion lipstick on my lips to finish off my look. It is such a fun and bright lip colour. I could not decide which colour I wanted on my lips but I could have gone for any of these lips colours and if you are not into bright lips, I did add a neutral colour in their for the lips since you will have the cheery, fun green under your eye. (Pictured below- Milani Lipstick Matte Passion, Maybelline Touch of Spice, Maybelline Vibrant Violet & Maybelline Power Peony)

Morphe Brushes – M103, M330, M422 & G24

IMG_5973

I, recently added some more Morphe Brushes to my brushes collection a couple of weeks ago. They are so inexpensive you can’t help but, add more brushes to your collection and it doesn’t hurt that I have had no issues with them. The Make-Up Artist Project here in Houston, that stocks Morphe Brushes, did not have a lot of the ‘popular’ brushes available.

Untitled design (30)M105 Tapered Blush Brush: This sable makeup brush with nice black wood handle can also be used to soften makeup, apply loose or pressed powder, blush on face, shoulders and neck. This brush is particularly good for blush/powder application.this essential brush marvelously buffs out shadows using small, gentle circular motions. Soft tip is extra smooth for fine makeup powders. It was time I replaced my blush brush and I couldn’t be happier with this blush brush. It does not pick up a whole lot of products, so luckily for me I won’t end up looking like I have happens on my cheeks.

Untitled design (31)M330 Blending Crease Brush: This rounded fluff brush seamlessly blends out your transition shade in the crease. The shape is perfect for buffing out shadows in circular motions. I, have had this brush on my wish list of Morphe Brushes for a while now. I was super excited when I spotted it, since it was the last one they had out on the sales floor. $5.99

Untitled design (33)M422 Crescent Shadow Brush: This light-weight brush glides over the eyelid smoothly, enabling full creative control. The density of this brush is perfect for creating a multitude of eye-shadow finishes that will ensure a dramatic impact. Such a nice brush to pack eye-shadows on your lid, it fits my lid perfectly. $3.99

Untitled design (32)G24 Blending Fluff Brush: This brush is from the gun metals collections (only one I own from that collection). This brush will delight you with it’s ultra fluffy and plush bristles that go to work for a flawless eye look. I must say this specific brush, is my least favourite one that I purchased. $7.99

What are some of your favourite brushes from Morphe? Or do you just not like them? let me know

Too Faced Born This Way Foundation (Natural Beige)

I love looking at other foundations, reading blog reviews, and watching YouTube videos on other foundations, to see how others like it or what they do not like about it.

With that being said I am not a foundation “collector”:) I love using one foundation and sticking with it, until it is time to purchase a new one. So when I ran out of my M.A.C Studio Sculpt. Which I did enjoy until I started using my new foundation Too Faced Born This Way. I had heard a lot about this foundation and that it was great for those of us who suffer from having dry skin. Sign me up for  any foundation that provides that glow, hydration factor to the skin, I am all for it.

DSC06459

This revolutionary foundation is infused with a potent combination of Coconut Water to naturally replenish moisture levels; nature’s resilient Alpine Rose to brighten the skin’s appearance and promote elasticity and Hyaluronic Acid for a smoother, more youthful appearance.

The bottle does slightly remind me of Giorgio Armani Luminous Silk Foundation, which is my ‘dream foundation” Can I add that to my Christmas wish list, already?

DSC06590

It comes with a pump, which is great you are able to control how much product you want and not end up with too much that it goes to waste. I know some people do not like when their foundations, don’t come with a pump.

  • Medium-to-full undetectable coverage
  • Oil-free
  • Coconut Water helps delicately replenish skin’s moisture levels without overhydrating—for the look of radiant skin
  • Infused with the resilient Alpine Rose to brighten the skin’s appearance and promote elasticity
  • Hyaluronic Acid helps balance skin for a smoother, more youthful appearance

I use about 3 pumps of foundation to get the desired coverage. I prefer more of a medium application.I use my foundation with my Beauty Blender as I find that works best for me in giving me a more natural look.

I definitely prefer the Too Faced foundation more than I did my M.A.C. Studio Sculpt that was a little heavier feeling and I do not like that feeling on my face. Where you feel like you want to scratch the foundation off your face. The Born This Way foundation wears well on my skin. It does not cling to my dry patches that I sometimes I get.

It stays put for about seven to eight hours on my face before it starts getting a little oily. I  found that it does not oxidises on my skin as I was a bit afraid of that. Since, I saw a few beauty bloggers mention that they had that issue.

There are 18 shades available which is pretty good. I like that on the Too Faced website you are move able to move your cursor over the shades. It will tell you the shade name and what undertones the foundation would best suit. The shade I have is Natural Beige medium to neutral undertones.

bottle-mobileThe foundation retails for $39.00 for 1.0Fl oZ. You can find it on the Too Faced website as well as Ulta & Sephora

Have you tried this foundation? What are some of your favourite drugstore and high-end foundations?

Morphe Brushes E32, M174, E24

I recently went to The Make-Up Artist Project here in Houston as the sell Morphe Brushes and other Morphe products.

I was a little disappointed as most of the brushes I went in looking for were sold out😦 I did however pick up 3 brushes – E32, M174 and the E24

IMG_4826.png

These a probably not brushes I had on my ‘brushes I need list’ However, I am glad that I did pick them up.

Untitled design (27)

Morphe E32 – Oval Concealer Brush: Blur your imperfections with our flat and rounded concealer brush. Ideal for blurring your blemishes or concealing dark circles. I actually don’t use it for that. I prefer using it to highlight my brow bone. If you wanted you could also pack on your eyeshadow with this brush, or if you wanted to apply glitter to your lid.$6.99

Untitled design (28)

Morphe E24 – Bullet Crease Brush: This one is my favourite out of the three brushes that I purchased. I use this brush for two things, and that is when I am applying shadow in a V- shape. I find that it applies it perfectly and secondly I use it to blend out the shadow on my lower lash line. The bristles on this brush are synthetic.  $6.99 Untitled design (29)

Morphe M174 -Badger Oval Shadow Brush: A versatile brush that will help you to perfect your eye looks. Rounded so it fits perfectly on the lid. I have thoroughly enjoyed this brush. Definitely my second favourite. At first, I thought that this brush might be to large for my lid. Since I don’t have a large eye lid area. The bristles on this brush are sable hair. $6.99

I own 6 Morphe brushes and I will continue to purchase more of their makeup brushes. I have never experienced any shedding with the ones that I own.

For brushes that I never had my eye on. I have used these 3 every time I have applied my eye-make up.

I say atleast try to order one brush and see how it goes from there for you.

Goodl brushes that are really in-expensive.

What are some of your favourite brushes from Morphe?
